Psalm 111

New International Version

Psalm 111^[a]

¹Praise the Lord.^[b]

I will extol the Lord^(A) with all my heart^(B)
in the council^(C) of the upright and in the assembly.^(D)

²Great are the works^(E) of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all^(F) who delight in them.
³Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures^(G) forever.
⁴He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.^(H)
⁵He provides food^(I) for those who fear him;^(J)
    he remembers his covenant^(K) forever.

⁶He has shown his people the power of his works,^(L)
    giving them the lands of other nations.^(M)
⁷The works of his hands^(N) are faithful and just;
    all his precepts are trustworthy.^(O)
⁸They are established for ever^(P) and ever,
    enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
⁹He provided redemption^(Q) for his people;
    he ordained his covenant forever—
    holy and awesome^(R) is his name.

¹⁰The fear of the Lord^(S) is the beginning of wisdom;^(T)
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.^(U)
To him belongs eternal praise.^(V)

Deuteronomy 12:28-32

New International Version

²⁸Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well^(A) with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.

²⁹The Lord your God will cut off^(B) before you the nations you are about to invade and dispossess. But when you have driven them out and settled in their land,^(C) ³⁰and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared^(D) by inquiring about their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.”^(E) ³¹You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates.^(F) They even burn their sons^(G) and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.^(H)

³²See that you do all I command you; do not add^(I) to it or take away from it.^[a]

To the Church in Pergamum

¹²“To the angel of the church in Pergamum^(A) write:

These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.^(B) ¹³I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me,^(C) not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness,^(D) who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives.^(E)

¹⁴Nevertheless, I have a few things against you:^(F) There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam,^(G) who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols^(H) and committed sexual immorality.^(I) ¹⁵Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.^(J) ¹⁶Repent^(K) therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.^(L)

¹⁷Whoever has ears, let them hear^(M) what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious,^(N) I will give some of the hidden manna.^(O) I will also give that person a white stone with a new name^(P) written on it, known only to the one who receives it.^(Q)
